Nature Observation Three: The Harmonious River

Nature Observation Three

The stream flowed harmoniously into the province of the forest. The water shined with lust as the sun’s rays reflected off the mirror of green and blue. A rainbow of vibrant colors forming a kaleidoscope in the water.  So calm but moving so fast. Each droplet of water hurried against the bank as if it was shot out of a cannon. Cutting through the atoms of the stream as if it was a Katana wielded by its master. Where was the water traveling to? How did it get here? Each droplet has a specific story of the treasures it has picked up along the journey from the pillows in the sky.

As I reach my hand to interrupt their rapid travel, my sensors are hit with a chilly slap. The water cools the hand that has been out in the Texas heat. The water is smooth as it nurtures my dry scales. While the water soothed my skin, I felt as if I was a raider to the natural ecosystem. I was disrupting the balance of nature, this once calm river now had ripples attacking the nearby stump. Nature rebalanced itself as time went by; the earthquake that was thrown upon the river faded away. The natural balance has been restored and the river maintained its course.
